For estimating and drafting/design, it is a great tool! I would not recommend it if you are looking for 3D modeling software.
It has made the process of estimating so much easier. When I use it in conjunction with my CAM nesting software and other estimating tools, it takes the work out of estimating a great number of RFQs.
I like how easy it is to make flat pattern parts using this program. I also like how it allows me to import/insert drawings or images into the template and trace them out. It is a great way to start your drafting/design career and it can be used in so many different applications.
It is not ideal for 3D modeling and does not simplify the creation of formed parts.
Perfect for drafting in 2D, for fraction of cost of a full Autocad subscription.
Autocad LT hands down the most accurate, quickest to draw with and most likely to be compatible with everything else
Software is smoother and faster to operate, its mainly a 2D drawing program. Its very simple to use from creating complex multi-layered drawings to simple figures with the ability to drop in pictures.
Solution limited to 2D design, little customization, the high level programming of the full application is not available. This is not Autocad capable of drawing 3D, this is specifically a 2D drafting software
Don't think twice. It is the best 2d design software, however quite pricey.
In AutoCAD I design simple parts like production templates or drawings for glass panels.
Normally I use 3d software for designing but I can't imagine doing some simple drawings or templates without AutoCAD. It is almost as simple as paint in Windows. All tools are grouped very intuitively.
I was thinking for 10 minutes about AutoCAD bad points and I could not really find anything. Maybe just yst editing tables in blocks could be easier.
