Best for mechanical design engineers

AutoCAD Mechanical is the first software I used in my Mechanical Engineering course. I used AutoCAD to make different views of the mechanical products as per the Indian Standard ( First Angle projection ), which helps me to understand the design prospects of the product.

I also use it to insert standard components while making 3D Models, as AutoCAD provides a wide range of standard parts which are readily available in the AutoCAD library

Pros

AutoCAD Mechanical is one of the most used software for Mechanical Engineers for creating 2D and 3D Models. The best part about AutoCAD Mechanical is the simple interface with all the options readily available in the front of our eyes, making it easier to make all kinds of 2D Models.

AutoCAD Mechanical also offers many options for file saving which include, template, drawing, pdf, and assembly file, which also makes it possible to open our documents in other Modelling software like SolidWorks as well.

Cons

With the AutoCAD Mechanical, the 2D Modelling can be done with ease, but for 3D Modelling, the AutoCAD Mechanical becomes pretty complex and doesn't have as many options as the Advanced Modelling Software like SolidWorks.

Also, it takes time to get used to AutoCAD since all the options for 2D Modelling are available in just one ribbon tab, and searching for the required options is quite time-consuming.

AutoCAD mechanical overview

This is best software for 2d modeling for mechanical work , like hvac , mechanical piping . This includes standard tools and parts for mechanical modeling.

Pros

This is best software for best cutomisable interface , ribbon and took palettes .A userbcan create their own workspace .this includes all the functionality of autocad plus a Library of standard based parts.

Cons

All things are good but there are limited file format and limited possible colours.it is expensive.

The Best of Autocad Mechanical

We are designing the machine part which is used to create bigger machine for example shaft,spring all those part are created using this software.

Pros

Autocad mechanical is used create the mechanical design models . Which model are used to run text and analysis of part. This software also give us a advantage of the creating bill of material used in parts.

Cons

This software work space to quite not good. We have to do lots of manually work most use of the keyboard. We can also note that I files is bigger in size it get slow.

Efficient for mechanical engineering design work

We use AutoCAD mechanical mainly for designing of our mechanical parts and products in 2d for the analysis and 3d for the visualization. And the design is used for 3D manufacturing for the prototype.

Pros

Autocad mechanical is most effective Design software for product and part modelling. We can design products with maximum accuracy in 2D and 3D with a great detailing and rendering speed.

Cons

The downside of AutoCAD mechanical is the access to drawing tools is not easier. No other downsides were noticed.

AutoCad MEP drafting

Without the need of creating other families, there are pre loaded mechanical equipment like hangers and VAV's. That eases coordination with other services.

Annotational drawing is also very easy to implement with vide range of options to change text size , leader size , transparency of text.

Pros

Simple and easy to understand.

The commands are very easy to understand for beginners and the GUI is also not complex.

Cons

Sometimes take time to do simplest of tasks as compared to other software.

Like for example for section cutting we have to hide other elements, change 3d view, where as in revit it takes matter of seconds to cut a sectional view.
